Eric Babin
Owner-operator and Program Director, DJ – Trop Rockin’ the USA, Happy Hour on the Big Beach presented by Phoenix Marine
Bio
Eric Babin is the co-founder, guiding force, and unmistakable voice behind Radio Trop Rock, a nationally recognized streaming radio station devoted to the laid-back sounds of Trop Rock music. Known for his tireless dedication to the genre, his deep connections to the artist community, and his passion for promoting the coastal lifestyle, Eric has played a pivotal role in shaping the modern Trop Rock music scene.
Originally from Louisiana and a proud U.S. Navy veteran, Eric’s journey into radio and music promotion took an unconventional yet inspiring route as he went from ocean waves to the air waves. After a successful 26 year military career, he and his wife, Gina Babin, embraced a life of adventure and creativity. Their shared love of island escapism, beachside music, and the Parrot Head community led them to take the reigns at Radio Trop Rock in 2016. What began as a passion project in their RV quickly grew into a full-time mission: connecting fans to the music and artists that embody the tropical rock spirit.
Eric used his G.I. Bill to train at The Academy of Radio & TV Broadcastiing in Huntington Beach California to hone his broadcast DJ skills. Knowing there was more about the music industry to learn, and with his remaining G.I. Bill, he then attended Berklee School of Music to educate himself on the business side of music.
Eric wears many hats at Radio Trop Rock: As well as producing several of the shows that air on the station, he is the program director, content curator, event promoter, and a radio personality in his own right. His voice has become a familiar and comforting presence to listeners tuning in from coast to coast and beyond. Under his leadership, Radio Trop Rock has become the premier station for fans of this genre, earning accolades, awards, and industry respect. The station has consistently been recognized by the Trop Rock Music Association (TRMA), including being named “Radio Station of the Year” eight times, becoming the most awarded trop rock station in history with a total of 25 TRMA Awards and every People’s Choice Award ever given in the radio category.
Beyond the airwaves, Eric is a cornerstone of the Trop Rock live music community. He and Gina travel extensively in their RV—affectionately dubbed the “Mobile Radio Trop Rock Studio”—to attend, cover, and support live Trop Rock events across the country. From Meeting of the Minds to Music on the Bay, Key West to Seattle, the Caribbean and countless house concerts and regional festivals, Eric’s presence is a signal that the Trop Rock community is about to have a good time. He broadcasts live shows from events, conducts artist interviews, and brings real-time experiences to fans who can’t always be there in person.
In addition to his media and promotional work, Eric remains a strong supporter of Trop Rock artists, helping them gain exposure, book gigs, and reach wider audiences. His genuine passion for the music and its creators has earned him the respect and friendship of artists across the genre. Whether he’s spinning tracks from established legends or introducing new independent artists, Eric’s commitment to authenticity and quality is unwavering.
He has also brought the Parrot Head Motto “Party with a Purpose” to Radio Trop Rock. The station has produced three CDs with all monies going to charity. They also donate trop rock memorabilia such as custom banners and autographed guitars for event raffles. Radio Trop Rock’s charitible work has resulted in over $40,000 being donated to charity since 2017.
Eric Babin isn’t just a DJ or a station manager—he’s a curator of good vibes, a community builder, and a champion of the music that reminds people to live life with their toes in the sand and a drink in hand. With Radio Trop Rock, he continues to inspire fans to embrace the coastal lifestyle, no matter where they are.
Whether parked by the beach, hosting a live remote from a tiki bar, or rolling down the highway in search of the next musical sunset, Eric Babin remains at the heart of the Trop Rock movement—radio on, flip flops ready, and always living the dream.
Join Eric & Gina by tuning in to Trop Rockin’ the USA each Wednesday at noon central and various weekends throughout the year from around the globe.

Bio
Stoney Gabel – The Voice of Sandy Boots Radio Show presented by KEY MID WEST and The Fleming Street Flop House on Radio Trop Rock
Stoney Gabel is a storyteller at heart, a humorist by nature, and a Texas-born entertainer who brings a unique blend of country roots, coastal spirit, and comedic charm to the world of Trop Rock. As the creator and host of Sandy Boots Radio Show presented by Key Mid West and The Fleming Street Flop House on Radio Trop Rock, Stoney has carved out a niche that’s as refreshing as a Gulf breeze and as grounded as a pair of dusty cowboy boots on a front porch.
A proud native of Texas, Stoney’s love for storytelling began on the back roads and back porches of the Lone Star State. Influenced by traditional country, folk, and Americana, his voice carries the depth of a seasoned songwriter and the humor of a well-traveled troubadour. But it was his discovery of Trop Rock — that coastal-infused, good-vibes-only genre blending island rhythms with country soul — that truly gave him a home for both his music and personality.
Stoney’s Sandy Boots Radio Show presented by Key Mid West and The Fleming Street Flop House brings listeners a mix of great tunes, thoughtful conversations, and the kind of down-home storytelling that feels like a backyard hangout. It may be the only show in which it is not uncommon to hear farm animals in the background. His radio show has earned critical acclaim within the Trop Rock community, even earning the Trop Rock Music Association Award for Recorded Radio Show of the Year — a testament to his growing influence on the genre.
Off the air, Stoney is just as active in the live music scene. He’s the founder and host of Evenings with the Songwriter in Lockhart, Texas — a unique series of intimate performances that showcase both emerging and established singer-songwriters in an atmosphere that encourages stories, laughter, and deep musical connections.
From the shores of Galveston to the hills of Central Texas, Stoney Gabel’s reach continues to grow. His performances coast to coast shows his versatility — able to make crowds laugh, sway, and reflect, frequently all in the same set. Whether he’s singing about love, life, lazy days by the water, goats, or a dessert bar, there’s always a twinkle in his eye and a story behind the song.
Stoney Gabel is more than just a voice on the radio — he’s a bridge between the campfire and the coast, between the honky-tonk and the tiki bar. With authenticity, wit, and an unmistakable Texan spirit, he invites audiences to kick off their boots, sink their toes in the sand, and enjoy the ride.
Stoney Gabel’s Sandy Boots Radio Show presented by Key Mid West and The Fleming Street Flop House airs every Tuesday at noon Central (with a replay Wednesday at 6 PM) on Radio Trop Rock.

Steve Huntington
DJ – Steve Huntington Show presented by The Habitat House Concerts
Bio
Steve Huntington was born and raised on the Jersey Shore, one hour south of New York City, influenced by that city’s vibrant media. The Beach Boys, the Beatles—from the weeks before the Ed Sullivan Show on TV and radio to Shea Stadium in concert—the Rolling Stones and soon after, the Grateful Dead, helped shape his lifelong appreciation of popular music. He got his Television/Radio degree at Syracuse University to propel his career to Utica, Tampa, Miami, KIFM San Diego, the national WAVE Network and then WLOQ Orlando. And the move to Florida was life-changing.
Jimmy Buffett knew where his early radio support was, and WQSR “Quad 102 & a Half” in the Tampa market in the 70’s was one of them. On-air interviews, tour rehearsals and softball games strengthened the connection. When in the 1990’s, he was exploring how to start his own radio station, Jimmy called Steve to put the music and the style together. In 1998, Radio Margaritaville started with hour-long on-demand programs, out of Steve’s house. By early the next year it was full time, broadcasting online from a little windowless office in the back lot of Universal Studios, right next to the very large Nickelodeon studios.
In January 2025, after an impressive 25-year run at Radio Margaritaville (including 14 years as Program Director), Steve Huntington brought his deep well of broadcasting expertise and encyclopedic music knowledge to Radio Trop Rock. Steve became the fifth DJ with Radio Margaritaville experience to join the Radio Trop Rock team.
The Steve Huntington Radio Show presented by Our Key West airs Thursdays at noon CST/1pm EST and Saturdays at 9am central/10am EST.
Kenny & Nell Tice broadcast all the way from the makeshift sunny beaches of Lebanon, PA. They are the husband-and-wife duo behind Livin’ Like Kenny, presented by Box 7 Media, on Radio Trop Rock.
These two have always shared a love for sunny adventures and good vibes, even when they’re miles from the coast. Having both grown up in the Northeast US, and visiting popular beaches like Cape May, NJ and Ocean City, MD, their first taste of “real” island life hit when they visited St. Thomas, USVI in 2015. This spawned years of travel in the US, Caribbean, and Central America, which inspired them to start their travel YouTube channel, Kenny and Nell.
Their Trop Rock journey started in the most serendipitous way: while relaxing in a pool in Clearwater Beach, FL in 2016, where Kenny discovered the irresistible pull of Trop Rock while Radio Margaritaville played over the speakers. This stunned Nell, after having experienced a Jimmy Buffett concert years before that and tried to tell him how awesome it was, this meant Kenny was finally “getting it.” That day lit a fire that quickly grew from a radio listen to a tropical oasis outdoor home renovation to a full-on radio show celebrating the independent artists who bring the beach to life in 2023 on another internet radio station.
The show started as a live, one-hour show Wednesday nights on Sandcastle Radio, and shortly after its debut, they realized this was more than a show, it was a community and family. A live chat option was added through Facebook messenger for fans, listeners and artists to connect with each other, and Kenny in real-time as the show was happening. The show quickly grew to 2 hours, and then 2-ish hours as Kenny does what he does best, goes with the flow, or aka “lives like Kenny”.
In 2025, the show moved in to the home it belongs in as Livin’ Like Kenny here on Radio Trop Rock where the PHamily continues to grow and connect. Nell joined in on the party as the “Robin” to the show’s Howard (IYKYK).
The Livin’ Like Kenny Radio Show on Radio Trop Rock is your all-access pass to the laid-back, good-time lifestyle inspired by sunshine, salt air, and island vibes. Hosted by the dynamic duo Kenny and Nell Tice, the show blends feel-good music with stories from the road, beach bar banter, and a whole lot of Trop Rock attitude. Known for world premieres, first-time listens, and general shenanigans, the show aims to add a little tropical escape to the middle of your week. When they’re not spinning the soundtrack to your escape, Kenny and Nell run their media business, enTICEing Media, and love traveling, cooking, and living life with a little extra salt and sunshine.
Every episode captures the spirit of escapism with a carefully curated mix of Trop Rock, classic rock, country, and island-infused grooves — the kind of tunes that make you want to grab a cold drink and dip your toes in the sand. Kenny and Nell bring their personal flavor to the airwaves with fun commentary, travel tales, interviews, and a genuine love for the Parrot Head community and beach music scene.
Whether you’re cruising down the highway, relaxing by the water, or just need a mental getaway, Livin’ Like Kenny delivers the soundtrack to your island state of mind. Tune in and turn up the tropics — because wherever you are, it’s always 5 o’clock somewhere when you’re Livin’ Like Kenny.

John Patti is a veteran radio broadcaster. He has spent more than 50 years in the broadcast industry, including 38 years at WBAL News Radio 1090 and 101.5 FM, retiring from full time radio work in 2022. He is now the host of Radio Trop Rock’s “A Trop Rockin’ Christmas.”
John spent his broadcast career as a seasoned broadcast journalist and a trusted voice in Baltimore and beyond, serving as a news anchor and reporter for WBAL NewsRadio 1090 and FM 101.5. With a career in radio spanning over six decades, Patti brought experience, professionalism, and a deep sense of journalistic integrity to every story he covered. Known for his calm, authoritative delivery and commitment to accuracy, he became one of the most respected figures in Maryland news.
John began his broadcasting career in his home state of Maryland, where he first developed his passion for radio journalism. He joined WBAL — one of the most respected legacy stations in the Mid-Atlantic — and quickly became a key part of the newsroom. Over the years, he has covered a wide range of major stories, from breaking news and political developments to public safety updates and community events.
In addition to covering breaking news and political developments, John covered The Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Ravens as a sports reporter and traveled to Havana, Cuba for a week in 1995 to cover the Orioles playing the Cuban All-stars. He also traveled to Cooperstown to cover the induction of Cal Ripken Jr. Earl Weaver, Eddie Murray, and play by play Announcer Chuck Thompson of the Orioles, into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Outside the newsroom, John is an active member of his community and a proud supporter of civic and charitable causes. He brings the same dedication and care to those efforts as he does to every news story he delivers. While John Patti Jr may be known for his steel pan and percussion playing, JP Sr also is a musician playing percussion in two bands. A Classic Rock band called Liberty Road and a Classic Hits of the 60s and 70s band called No Strings Attached.
Each December, John Patti brings the spirit of the season to life with the show “Christmas In Maryland” which began in 2007 on WBAL News Radio. Since his retirement from WBAL in 2022 the show has aired on 101.9 – WLIF – Baltimore’s Christmas Music Station as well as syndication to a nine radio station network throughout Maryland. The show is a beloved radio special that celebrates the warmth, heritage, and holiday traditions of the Old-Line State featuring a festive blend of music, memories, and Maryland pride, thoughtfully curated and narrated by one of the region’s most trusted and familiar voices.
With a storytelling style as rich as Chesapeake Bay’s history, John Patti guides listeners through a nostalgic and heartwarming journey that highlights what makes Christmas in Maryland so special. From snowy small towns in the mountains to lighted boat parades along the Eastern Shore, Christmas in Maryland captures the charm, diversity, and unity of the state during the holidays.

In 2006, Burns was named “Official Music Ambassador of the Alabama Gulf Coast Convention and Visitors Bureau.” In 2008, Burns won three awards in the first ever Trop Rock Music Awards. Burns won “Entertainer of the Year,” “CD of the Year (for “Ragtops and Flip Flops”)” and a special WAVE award for his charitable work. 2010 brought more Trop Rock Music awards, CD and Song of the Year for “I’ve Got A Beach in My Backyard” and Songwriter of the Year. In 2011 he added two more awards – Songwriter of the Year and Entertainer of the Year! 2012 brought awards for CD and Song of the Year for “Don’t Come Knockin’ If The Tiki Hut’s Rockin’.”Less
Burns was all over the national scene with his songs and videos, “Pain At The Pump” and “Drill, Drill, Drill.” After the videos were posted on You Tube, CNN interviewed Burns and used “Pain At The Pump” in their special “4 Bucks! What’s Next? America’s Fuel Crisis.” When the BP oil spill struck his beloved Gulf Coast in April 2010, Burns took the oil giant to task with his song, “Drill, Drill, Drill.” The song and video were featured on CNN’s Headline News. Burns first tapped into the American public’s anger over rising fuel costs in response to the oil shortages of the 1970s and 80s. Burns wrote the hit song, “Cheaper Crude or No More Food.” The song sold 200,000 copies the day it was released and climbed the Billboard Charts after radio commentator Paul Harvey played it three times. It is the first and only song ever played in Harvey’s nearly 50 years of radio broadcasting.
Burns’ fame continued with appearances on Real People, The Mike Douglas Show, and Hee-Haw. Burns was featured on the front page of the Sunday New York Times Entertainment Section, as well as in articles appearing in the Chicago Tribune, LA Times, Arizona Republic, Newsweek, US Magazine, and Billboard Magazine. Besides his Top 40 hit, “Cheaper Crude or No More Food,” Burns has had five other nationally charted records.
A twice wounded, Purple Heart winning combat veteran, Burns also has the distinction of being the first American entertainer to perform for troops overseas after the tragedy of September 11, 2001. Burns’ musical career has taken him to Italy, Australia, Mexico and coast to coast in the US.
Burns’ philanthropic projects have continued throughout the years. A portion of his CD sales goes to charities including the American Cancer Society, Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, and Habitat for Humanity. Burns’ Habitat tribute song, “Build Them A House,” is available for free download on his web site, www.brentburns.com.
Brent’s impressive CD sales and songwriting skills continue to make him a highly sought after artist and performer. His schedule includes over 200 dates a year at corporate events, concerts, festivals and clubs.
Brent is a Trop Rock Music Association Life Time Achievement Award Winner among many other TRMA Awards.
